"What's it like in Mexie's classroom?" (ft. Marine)
In this video (Part 1), Marine interviews ME (what??) on my curriculum as a professor of environmental studies and geography (specifically about political ecology). I talk about the paradigm shifts I'm hoping to inspire and how I work to dismantle dominant narratives about nature and commodification. Marine and I compare / contrast our approaches in education, me being primarily a lecturer and Marine a facilitator (although with Marine's help, I'm working to incorporate more facilitation into my courses!).
Make sure to watch Part 2 of this interview on Marine's new channel! Smart Activities to Make Your Lectures Less Boring: ruclips.net/video/j-8rCmFdysg/видео.html

    Hey Mexie, let me know if you may want to have me as a guest to speak on ballot access for Jill Stein and the Green Party. You have a large U.S. audience and they may want to know about the GP grassroots efforts & the way to volunteer. The GP is taking on many newcomers and so there is much room for organization formation and ability for volunteers to go very far. It could be a great video for practical and idealistic reasons, since we could discuss some futurism that is synchronous to the topic. If you're not interested it's okay I can understand.

      @@Mexie You, God and All scientists do not know that the concentration of Wealth in the hands of an Owner happens in two ways: 1) The free market, no matter how much it is regulated, leads inevitably to extreme levels of Wealth concentration. 2) The exploitation of the Employee by the Owner, also, leads inevitably to extreme levels of Wealth concentration. The only sustainable solution is perpetual redistribution of some Wealth from places of Extreme concentration (regardless if private or public) to every citizen evenly. A Repeated Redistribution is the only way towards a more equal society because nobody can stop the exploitation at the work place and nobody can stop the concentration of Wealth by free trade. 1) To sustain a free market You must tax the extreme concentration of Wealth and then give it evenly to everybody , again and again, so that the market can have customers (i.e. humans with money to spend). 2) Do not let foreign entities extract profit from our markets. We must extract profits from their markets

    I'm a business student at the moment, in order to subvert / occupy the business 'ecosystem'. You can count on me to dismantle the business structure while taking advantage of the resources for our transition into a new, sovereign cultural ecosystem. Now that I am in politics, I now plan to acquire a masters (after business BA) in political science rather than business leadership. We are occupying our opposition's spaces, we are taking over. Very good.

    @~23:15, not everyone has the luxury to wait until we have a perfect step by step nonviolent process to change things. 25,000 people die of hunger everyday, even though we already grow enough food to feed everyone. There will never be a perfect plan, and delaying any longer than necessary prolongs worker suffering. I like your videos, but action is absolutely necessary as soon as possible. *25,000 people every single day.*

Everywhere else is 100% natives and over 300 species on only 0.18 acres...yes...thats a very very high species density because i took advantage of micro habitats created by other plants and runoff from the roof and 2 different soil types...one is the very disturbed origonal soil and the other is the foundation soil. These national builders are ecological devils.

    18:13 veganism shouldn't be a tool for oppression - it's the misuse of veganism that makes real veganism not work.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    12:13 again - that's not veganism, because that's not 'benefiting humans'

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    9:42 true - because telling someone how bad they consume - because they (say as an example, you can change the numbers to anything, but try to get the point) ate 1/3 of an animal's body, to tell someone to go eat something that is a plant, but involved the destruction of 20 animals - to me is self-defeating and is not something that people should advocate for. I'd rather someone eat some fish than have that fish be used as fertilizer for a head of lettuce that got sprayed pesticides and killed many insects. That fish isn't all going to the lettuce as nutrients - it's going into the ground - as so it's less nutrient efficient (a.k.a. - nutrients getting into our bodies from the environment) than a fish directly.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    8:42 just turn them to the fact that organic also uses chemical pesticides.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    8:23 I grow pollinator-friendly plants - so there's hope. And I do it without honey incentives - because it's the plants that bring about the pollinating, not honey.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    7:45 just because veganism looks bad at the global scale, doesn't mean that veganism is impossible or doesn't work - we can grow our own food. Seaspiracy shows that there's slavery on fishing vessels - so you can't avoid it switching back to animal products.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    7:00 that's why I don't really believe in striving for veganism yet again - because you're trying to help animals at the sake of people - the chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, etc. industries are not great. However, that's not veganism - because veganism's 'animal-free developments to benefit humans' and if it's child labor - that's not benefitting humans. So that makes chocolate and similar products not vegan, yet I see many vegans buy them unfortunately - which goes back to the analogy about how I'd prefer someone who saves tons of animals consuming one that died of natural causes than a 'vegan' trying to eat chocolate produced via child labor.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    6:28 that's why it's not vegan to consume from non-vegan sources - so they can subsidize their non-vegan efforts with vegan money. In order for veganism to work - money must be placed into fully vegan companies for it to work - who buy from fully vegan sources themselves.

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    honestly I'd rather see someone save tons of animals that might eat a few that died at the end of their life than someone who's 'vegan' but eats plants that were sprayed with insecticide, because they don't care about 'insects' being 'not sentient enough'. I'm more pro animal, as you are, than about 'veganism' - which works against animals in their quest to help them. I'm not about 'limiting', but about 'freeing'. Why? Focusing on negativities is only half the battle - and neutral at best. If you point someone in the right direction - they'll naturally get away from the wrong one - so you don't have to do all the work to tell them not to do something via coercion and pressure. Why are we oppressing one being for the benefit of another? Isn't that the whole point of going vegan in the first place?

  • @extropiantranshuman
    @extropiantranshuman Месяц назад

    5:06 structural racism isn't the problem. Look at some of the wealthiest of areas and you will see a ton of animal products there. Just because a poorer area has more fast food doesn't automatically mean a wealthier area has fewer animal-based options. That's an argument from the negative logical fallacy - because it's the wealthy that drive animal consumption and those who don't have money could always say no and grow their own food. It costs just about nothing to get seeds, soil, and water to get going. That's why some of the poorest people in the world grow their own food. You're not talking the truly poor people, because mcdonald's is very expensive! Fast food is just the excesses from the animal parts that aren't eaten by the wealthy. I'm tired of the classism arguments - because that's how you justify more people eating animal products - because they're 'poor' - it automatically makes it justifiable. Soytheist has debunked this many times over - it's a sick trope that should stop. Wealthy people build mcd's - so you'd need wealth somewhere for them to crop up.
